Tasmania's Theatre Royal, in Hobart, is Australia's oldest working theatre and one of its most beautiful treasures.
We are very excited to present our 2016 season, with great works from Australia's finest theatre, opera and circus companies such as Circus Oz, Opera Australia, Sydney Theatre Company, Bell Shakespeare and shake & stir theatre co.
We also highlight Tasmanian companies and Tasmanian stories. There are many classics and it's packed with the very, very new as well! It's energetic and vibrant and we think you'll enjoy it.
Alternatively, take a guided tour to see the theatre's elegant auditorium with its central dome, intricate gilded mouldings and rich colours and enjoy a behind-the-scenes glimpse of theatre life.
Tours operate each Monday, Wednesday and Friday, at 11am for approx 45 minutes. The cost of a tour is Adult $15, Concession $12 and Child $10.
