My 4 year old loved this place, excitement of seeing a shark to seeing fish all sorts of animals under and on land. Definitely recommended. He even got to touch a few things

We live close to Sea World, so were unsure what to expect from Cairns Aquarium but it was AWESOME! The talks we attended were really interesting & the staff were super enthusiastic. Our family aged 8 - 68 all thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Our 8 yr old particularly enjoyed the touch tank. Highly recommended. My only comment was that we felt we were rushing from one spot to another to attend the shows so we did a lot of back tracking. Try to arrive at opening time so you have some time to get your bearings before the shows start.

I must admit that I haven’t been to that many aquariums but I was in a ‘wow’ situation with every step we took. The grandchildren loved the day too. There were areas they could crawl into, areas where we could see the fish over a two storey fish tank. There was a lady talking to the children about shark eggs, there was the seahorse section. Too much to do at once. That’s why your ticket allows you to go in and out as many times in the day. The day is from 10am to 3pm. We paid $132 for the family ticket

Great experience for a family. Our little one enjoyed it very much. It was easy to take a pram with us.

Relaxing way to spend an afternoon. Walking through the aquarium looking at the sea life and learning about the creatures of the sea. The young kids loved it.

Given its proximity to the reef we expected a lot more vibrant and colourful fish and sea creatures. The centre is quite small, the presentations were overcrowded on the day we went and we easily did it in just over an hour. Very low value for money.

We thought we would go to the twilight event on a Sunday night. Unfortunately was not happening. We had a few hours to fill in b4 our flight on the Monday. Arrived at opening time. Queue out the front. Entered and found it a pleasant surprise. Better than my expectations. Variety of fish and animals more than expected. Busy but not too crowded or rushed. Couple of hours and we ran out of time rather than things to see.. Would recommend a visit.

A simply stunning venue for a regional Australian city. This aquarium would be right up there with those in major cities let alone any in regional cities! Clearly the aquarium had its focus on the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree as it should being the gateway to both. While I agree the entry price was high for 4 adults and 2 children in my group, we all understood that the upkeep and maintenance costs must be huge. All of us in our group were enthralled by the exhibits and the learning experience that it offered. My 2 year old grandson only really wanted to see the sharks but he left in awe of the stingrays. Kudos to Cairns Aquarium. Anyone visiting Cairns should make the effort to check it out.

I’m not sure if it was extra busy due to the awful downpour of rain etc but it was uncomfortably packed. No one was following COVID safe distancing and staff weren’t enforcing it either. Yes, us Victorian are probably a little more precious on the subject but this was gross. People squishing past shoulder to shoulder etc and everyone touching surfaces all over the place. The fish were beautiful and I loved the separation between the freshwater fish and salt water etc. really informative material as well BUT not worth the crazy price tag given you get through it in about an hour and a half. That was with 3 young kids and 2 elderly so by no means hurrying. I think if the weather is bad or for whatever reason you can’t get out to the actual reef this would be ok. But to put it in perspective we paid for everyone to goto green island for a whole day for only $90 more.

Amazing variety of fish and reptiles to see. Lots of fascinating information available. Fascinating for all age groups and well designed for disabled and handicapped people.
